Earl Cagle

Earl D. Cagle, 68, of Lumpkin County passed away Saturday September 17, 2011 following a period of declining health. Born April 30, 1943 to the late Jackson and Sara Cagle, he was a resident of Doraville for 20 years before spending the last 16 years in Lumpkin County. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Cagle was a U.S. Navy veteran of Viet Nam who was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. He owned Cagle’s Auction Company in Chamblee and was an auctioneer in the Atlanta area for many years, after which he retired from Univar in Doraville and then worked as a bus driver for Lumpkin County Schools. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Cagle Smith, and brothers, Louie, Duane, and Bruce Cagle. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Paulette White Cagle, Lumpkin County; children, Brooks, Joshua, Paul, Abigail, and Mary Cagle, all of Lumpkin County; sister and brother in law, Judy and Bob Kernea, Clermont; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday September 19, 2011 at 11 o’clock, at The Dahlonega Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Robert Weischedel will officiate.
