Edwin Garner

Edwin Junior Garner, 80, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following a period of declining health. Born August 14, 1933 to the late John and Ester Garner, he had been a resident of Lumpkin County for over 10 years coming from Forsyth County. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and member of Chestatee Baptist Church in Hall County. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Smith, and brother, Johnny Garner. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Lorelle Garner, Dahlonega; son, Danny “Cotton” Garner, Marble Hill; daughters and son in law, Sandra Colbert, Dahlonega, Wanda and Stevie Chadwick, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Noveline and Thomas Butler, Dawsonville, Christine and Cecil Reeves, Dawsonville, Juanita and Hartwell Lovell, Oakwood, Herman Smith, Dawsonville; sister in law, Glenda Garner, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Stevie and Sherry Chadwick, Danielle and Ryan Edmonds, Travis and Heather Garner, Nathan and Amber Chadwick, Faye Colbert, Amanda and Ryan Sullens; great-grandchildren, Trey, D’laina, and Sydney Chadwick, Maeson Edmonds, Judd Garner; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Cecil Reeves and Rev. Stevie Chadwick will officiate. Interment will follow in the Chestatee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 A.M. until 9 P.M..
