Io White

Io White, 92, of Lilburn, GA died July 11, 2010. Born October 9, 1917 in Dahlonega, GA to the late Neppie Cochran and James “Jim” Mincey, she worked at various places during her lifetime, but her greatest joy was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was known for her wonderful cooking, being the family historian, beautiful crocheting, growing vegetables with her husband, working in the flower garden, making beaded jewelry and loving and being loved by her “Honorary granddaughters”. Io will be greatly missed by her adoring family. Io was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Diamont White. Surviving are her honorary son and daughter in law, Richard and Becky Cochran, Lilburn; honorary granddaughters, Velita M. Cochran, Alpharetta, Christi Cochran Garrison and her husband Mark, Ft. White, FL, Heather A. Cochran, Athens; and many cousins and loyal friends. The service celebrating the life of Io White will be held Wednesday July 14, 2010 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Mrs. White being placed in state at 1 o’clock. Rev. Jad Denmark will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 at Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Snellville, GA.
