Jane Gilreath

Jane Burton Edwards Gilreath, 71, of Dawsonville passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday July 17, 2011 following an extended illness. Born May 19, 1940 in Suwanee to the late Howard and Irene Burton, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 10 years having moved from Lawrenceville. A member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church, Buford, Ms. Jane was a loving lady who always gave of herself and had the ability to make everyone around her feel special. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Gilreath. Surviving are her daughter, Tonya Edwards, Atlanta; son and daughter in law, Mark and Beverly Edwards, Suwanee; father of her children, Marvin Edwards, Lawrenceville; brother and sister in law, Ray and Ineal Burton, Cumming; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 21, 2011 at 1 o’clock at the Ivy Creek Baptist Church, Buford, GA. Rev. Bobby Brown will officiate. The body will be placed in state at the church at 12 noon. Interment will follow at 4 o’clock at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, Dawsonville, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
