Janice B. Wood, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday June 12, 2016 at her residence following a short period of declining health. Born October 3, 1923 in Hoboken, Georgia to the late D. F., Sr. and Jewell Burton, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 6 years having moved from Flagler Beach, Florida. She retires as a nurse with the Florida Department of Corrections and was preceded in death by a son, A. Hunter Wood, Jr. Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Suzanne and Bobby Franklin, Dawsonville, Marie and Alan Gillingham, Baxley, GA; sister, Kathryn Oliff; brother, John Burton; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial reception will be held Saturday June 18, 2016 from 6 until 8 at the home of Suzanne and Bobby Franklin, 929 Mill Creek Drive, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
