Jethel Chumbley Obituary

Jethel W. Chumbley, 91, of Dawsonville died Monday August 10, 2009 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a short illness. Born April 27, 1918 in Pickens County to the late Robert E. Lee Walker and Elizabeth Walker, she moved to south Georgia as a teenager and then to Dawson County where she lived over 70 years. Mrs. Chumbley was a homemaker and a member of Juno Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Odum Chumbley; son, Duren Chumbley; eight brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her children, Clinton and Sarah Chumbley, Dawsonville, Janice Canup, Dawsonville, Judy and Bill Abercrombie, Gainesville; daughter in law, Eunice Chumbley, Dawsonville; sister, Pat Cox, McRae, GA; grandchildren, Trina and Steve Brown, Tony Canup, Ted Canup, Andy and Sarah Kate Abercrombie, Eric and Brandi Abercrombie; great grandchildren, Dennis Brown, Tina Brown, Michael Brown, C. J. Brown and Ansleigh Abercrombie. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 13, 2009 at 4 o’clock at Juno Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Tim Biddy will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at the funeral home.
