Karol Lynn Flanders, 67, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday February 24, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born October 30, 1948 in Macon, Georgia, Lynn had lived in Dawson County for the past five years. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Georgia State University. Lynn taught several years in the public school system. She possessed a great passion for quilting and was preceded in death by her father, Earl Edwards, and a nephew, Shawn Flanders. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Donald O. Flanders, Dawsonville; mother, Dorothy S. Edwards, Demorest, GA; brother and sister in law, Mike and Jeannie Edwards, Cumming; brother in law and sister in law, Richard and Karen Flanders, Brookville, PA; nieces, Michelle Childs and her husband, Kenny, Kimberly Hertling; nephew, Rick Edwards and his wife Brooke; great nephew, Finn Childs; great nieces, Ella Edwards and Emmy Edwards. Funeral services will be held Friday February 26, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Burpee will officiate. Interment services will be held in the Clarkesville Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Kuefner, John Perry, John Stewart, Brad Bridges, John Burrell, Joe Parola, Mike Roberts and Carl Woodruff. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Drive, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, www.stjude.org.
