Lucille Whitaker
Lucille Darnell Whitaker, 90, of Atlanta passed away Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Laurel Bay Convalescent Home following a period of declining health. Lucille was born May 5, 1921 in Dawson County to the late John and Mittie Darnell. Mrs. Whitaker worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company for thirty nine years. She was a loving and devoted mother to her son, Johnny Ray Whitaker who also preceded her in death along with a sister, Lena Wakefield, and brother, Howard Darnell. Surviving are a brother, Hobart Darnell, Dawsonville, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
