Monique “Nikki” Medlock Porter, 42, of Dawsonville died Sunday September 27, 2009 following a sudden illness. Born at Perrin Air Force Base near Sherman, Texas, she lived most of her life in Dawsonville. Monique was a graduate of Dawson County High School where she participated in the Drill Team. She graduated from Lanier Tech after which she worked as a hair stylist and barber and was currently a manager/stylist with Sports Clips in Cumming. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church as was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Cathryn Medlock and mother, Nancy Medlock. Surviving are her husband, Mark Porter, Dawsonville; daughter, Ragen Medlock, Dawsonville; father, Ron Medlock, Crestview, FL; brothers, James “Kaala” Souza, Kailua, Hawaii, Walker Medlock, Panama City, FL; sisters, Marisa Wagner, Warner Robbins, Roxanne Medlock, Crestview, FL, Renee Medlock, Crestview, FL; uncles and aunts, Ralph and Lorraine Medlock, Lugoff, SC, Randy and Carol Medlock, Dawsonville, Rick and Connie Medlock, Dawsonville, and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday October 2, 2009 at 12 noon at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Blackstock and Rev. Frank Whitmire will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
