Ralph H. Currie, Jr., 81, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday December 4, 2013 in New York City. Born July 3, 1932 in St. Paul’s, North Carolina to the late Ralph and Edith Currie, he had lived in Dawson County for the past six years having moved from Dunwoody. Mr. Currie formerly owned Ralph Currie Carpets in the Atlanta area and was actively involved in promoting business and tourism in Costa Rica. Ralph was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie, and a sister, Doris. Surviving are his wife, Dean Currie, Dawsonville; children, Steve Currie, Conyers, Brenda Currie, Gainesville, April Currie, Atlanta, Heather Currie, Atlanta, Joan Currie, North Carolina; grandchildren, Katie and Charlie; and great grandchildren, Grace and Josh. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 11, 2013 at 2 o’clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock. Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate.Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
