Roy J. Foster, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday June 25, 2015 at Emory University Hospital Midtown following a brief illness. Mr. Foster was born January 25, 1941 to the late Willis and Flora Foster. He was raised in North Georgia and had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 40 years. A deacon at Antioch Baptist Church, he worked for a number of years as a custodian for the Dawson County School System where he had recently retired. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hunter and a number of siblings. Surviving are his daughters and sons in law, Alinda and Nicholas Baggett, Dawsonville, Wendy and Richard Sfeir, Dawsonville; son, Rodney Foster, Atlanta; sisters, Pauline Champe, Dahlonega, Thelma Davis, Gainesville; brother and sister in law, Howard and Vickie Foster, Cleveland; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 at 4 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Stover will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
