Shane Thurmond

Shane Michael Thurmond, 42, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday March 12, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born February 3, 1971, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Shane was a graduate of Dawson County High School and Pickens Technical College as a Micro Computer Specialist. He was employed by Automotive Service And Performance. An accomplished pianist, vocalist, and songwriter, he was known by many for the music he loved to share. He devoted his time and talent to performing in churches, public events and anywhere music was appropriate. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leland and Christine Thurmond, and James Kent. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Lisa Thurmond, Dawsonville; children, Aly Thurmond and Ashton Thurmond, Dawsonville; parents, Terry and Sybil Thurmond, Dawsonville; brother, Leland Thurmond and his fiancé, Angela Williamson, Dawsonville; grandmother, Louise Kent, Dawsonville; nieces, Chloe Thurmond, Katie Williamson; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 16, 2013 at 3 o’clock at Sweetwater Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Osteen and Rev. William Blackwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday after 5 pm at the funeral home.
