Shirley Garner Clinton, 74, of Gainesville passed away Sunday October 30, 2016 at Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, North Carolina following a period of declining health. Born July 15, 1942 to the late Lee and Eula Lee Garner, Shirley had been a resident of Gainesville for most of her life. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Murrayville and worked at Gainesville Manufacturing as a seamstress for many years. Shirley was also the caretaker for her father until he passed away. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Homer Lee “Buddy” and Jean Garner, Bobby Garner and a sister, Dorothy Nell Thomas. Surviving are her brothers and sister in law, James “Butch” and Joyce Garner, Gainesville, Wayne Garner, Gainesville; sisters and brothers in law, Mary Jane and Freddie Harkins, Dawsonville, Corine and Tom Morrison, Dawsonville, Carolyn Cochran, Gainesville, a number of very loved nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 1, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeff Garner, Rev. Mike Garner, and Rev. Kenny Garner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10AM until the service hour on Tuesday.
