Virgil Hampton Obituary

Virgil M. Hampton, 84, of Dawsonville died Tuesday November 30, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness. Born April 2, 1926 to the late Fredy and Ola Mae Hampton, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. Mr. Hampton was a retired poultry farmer and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Hampton; sister, Wilma Mills; and a brother, Vernon Hampton. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Claudine Hampton, Dawsonville; children, Margaret and Ken Korab, Dawsonville, Mildred Emerson, Gainesville, Fran and Michael Harben, Woodstock, Glen Hampton, Dawsonville, Donald Hampton, Dawsonville; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 2, 2010 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leonard W. Ridings, Rev. Larmon Barron, Pastor Ricky Stepp and Rev. Doug Delong will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday after 12 noon at the funeral home.
