Winford Burt

Winford E. “Biscuit” Burt, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday December 20, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness. Born October 25, 1934 to the late Alonzo and Nettie Burt, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mr. Burt owned and operated Winford Burt Paving and was an avid race fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends and was a member of Juno Baptist Church. Winford was also preceded in death by his sisters, Cleo Whelchel, Inez McGuire; and brothers, Clyde Burt, Carl Burt, Ted Burt, Howard Burt and Dean Burt. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Laura Mae Burt, Dawsonville; children, Elizabeth and Jerry Keasler, Dawsonville, Eugene and Jennifer Burt, Dawsonville, Everett and Sonya Burt, Dawsonville; sister, Irene Harben, Dawsonville; sisters in law, Golda Heard, Dawsonville, Lynn Burt, Auburn, Helen Burt, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Jeremy and Lisa Keasler, Tiffany Keasler, Natalie Burt, Andrew Burt, Logan Burt, Carley Burt and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 22, 2011 at 2 o’clock at Juno Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Weldy, Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Russell Burt will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 until 9 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jerry Keasler, 164 Grace Drive, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534.
