Centerville – Mr. Donald Herbert Meck, age 91, passed away on March 19, 2017. A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. Donald served his country honorably in the United States Air Force in World War II and retired as a Major. He enjoyed playing softball up into his 80’s on and was part of the Ole Smoothies team in 2005 that won a National Title. He ran the Senior Olympics for many years and was very athletic. Donald was born March 17, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to Cassius and Katherine Simpson Meck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Doubrava Meck, his son, Lynn J. Meck, his daughter, Lynda Meck Morton and his 5 brothers. Donald is survived by his loving children: Cherie Meck Hall (Steven) Virginia; Dr Donald Meck (Debbie) Bonaire, GA; Candy Meck (Wendy) Chattanooga, TN; Rod Edward Meck (Lori) Kokomo, IN; Debra Meck Stewart (Richard) Dunnellon, FL; his 16 grandchildren and his 22 great-grandchildren.
