Roland Hinez Meyer

Byron- Roland H. Meyer, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 with his beloved wife by his side. Services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm in Burpee-Scott Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Pineview Cemetery. Roland was born on March 5, 1931 in Stuttgart Germany. At the age of 7 , he and his family escaped the Nazis and moved to Peru. Roland was an extremely educated man having earned a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Lima. In 1959 he received a scholarship to attend Harvard University, where he graduated with a master's degree. After graduating from Harvard, Roland moved to Washington D.C. where he accepted a position with the Inter-American Development Bank. During his career he traveled abroad helping many people and countries. In 1993 , Roland retired from Inter-American Development Bank and began traveling with his wife Debbie. They traveled at least 100 countries. Roland was a generous man and truly had a heart for people. Even though he had no children of his own, he was always looking for ways to help children and adults to have an easier and better life. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Debbie Lenora Peacock Meyer of Byron and many other extended family and friends. Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
