Kathryn Frye

Kathryn Carithers Frye, age 91, of Hartwell, GA passed away peacefully on May 8, 2016 in Lawrenceville, GA. She was born July 14, 1924 in Elberton, GA, to the late Claude Wilhite Carithers and Jewel Elizabeth Harris Carithers. She was a former teacher at Nancy Hart Elementary School and a homemaker. She was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Glory Girls. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Java) Randall Frye and his wife Susan of Lawrenceville, GA, Cathy Sarepta Frye and her husband Michael Keilly of LaFayette, CO, and Richard (Rick) Dwain Frye and his wife Marsha of Cumming, GA, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse C. Frye, Jr. (Jake) whom she met while both were attending Reinhardt College. He went off to war and when he returned, they were married. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Pope Carithers and her sister, Floy Rebecca Herndon. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Queen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour in the church fellowship hall just prior to the service. The family will hold a reception and meal following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hartwell First UMC, 200 East Howell Street, Hartwell, Ga. 30643, or Cokesbury UMC, 2207 Cokesbury Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
