Mr. Lindsay A. Tise, Jr., treasured husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle, age 72 of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 12, 2015, surrounded by his family. Mr. Tise was born March 29, 1943 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; however, he lived the majority of his adult life in the Reed Creek community, where he and his wife, Betty, made their home. He was a member of Fairview Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, but he attended Reed Creek Baptist Church with his family and friends. Mr. Tise attended Fork Union Military Academy, and upon graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. Following his military service, Mr. Tise attended the University of Georgia, graduating with an AB Degree. Following college, Mr. Tise attended John Marshall Law School, earning a Juris Doctor Degree. Mr. Tise served the Hart, Elbert, Franklin, Madison, and Oglethorpe County communities as a District Attorney and then as a Superior Court Judge, retiring in 2008. He then continued his public service by actively serving the citizens of Georgia as a Senior Superior Court Judge for the next seven years. Mr. Tise was a member of both the Georgia and American Bar Associations, and he was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Tise is survived by his wife, Betty Osborne Tise; his daughter, Taylor Tise Szoke, her husband, Clay, and their children, Sutton Elyse and Jax Baron, of Watkinsville, Georgia; his father, Lindsay A. Tise, Sr. of Winston-Salem; his brother, Timothy E. Tise, his wife, Martha, and their children, Meredith, Jennifer, David, and Eric, of Cumming, Georgia, as well as in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Tise was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Frances Amelia Ivester Tise, his maternal grandparents, Rector Dallas and Beulah Lineback Ivester, and his paternal grandparents, William C. and Laura Mae Brandon Tise, all of Winston-Salem. A service in celebration of Mr. Tise, his life, and his invaluable contribution to his community will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Reed Creek Baptist Church. The Honorable Frances George, Mr. Danny Ferguson, Mr. Stan Lawson, and the Reverend Sam Dulaney will officiate. A private committal service will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends of Mr. Tise on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
