Martha Frye

Mrs. Martha Stovall Frye, age 85 of 140 Gloria Drive, Hartwell, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens after a sudden illness. Born April 29, 1930 in Elberton, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Olin Stovall and Hattie Gertrude Cordell Stovall. She was retired as a seamstress in the garment industry. Martha was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, the Ladies Sunday School Class and the UMW. She is survived by; children, Susan Mewborn and her husband, Lawrence of Bogart, Ga., Alice Glenn and her husband, Mac of Hartwell, Ga., Stan Frye and his wife, Cynthia of Buford, Ga., and Greg Frye of Alabaster, AL, grandchildren, Marti Brooks, Paula Wells, Ian Frye, David Mewborn, Elizabeth Howell, Krissi Hoffecker, and step-grandchildren Michael Carey and Eric Norris. Ten great-grandchildren, special family, the children and grandchildren of Mike Richardson, and Judy Frye and Jackie Frye and two great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Inman Frye, and a great grandchild. She was the last member of her immediate family. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Rev. Ann Mann and Rev. Dean Kring will officiate. A lunch and reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, c/o Pat Bradford, 1507 Montevideo Road, Elberton, Ga., 30635. The family will be at their respective homes.
