Rev. Elbert Starks, age 79 of Poplar Street in Hartwell, GA., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Pruitt Health Toccoa. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Hartwell to the late O.Z. Starks and Rossie Sims Starks Morrison. He was retired from Hartwell Sports in shipping and was former pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. He is survived by; son, Melvin Courtney Drye of Hartwell, grandchildren, Takeyia Wilkins, Lakeisha McLendon (Tori), Takisha Teasley, Melkendric Drye and Timpestt Daniels along with five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Emma Frances Sloan Starks, children, Mary Drye, Reginald Hughes and Anthony Teasley and siblings, Willie Starks, Edgar Starks and Lillie Mayfield. The body is at the funeral home where the family will host a visitation on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. The family will be at the home, 196 Poplar Street in Hartwell. Due to Covid-19 the family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Cremations 333 E.
