Salvadore Ortiz Obituary

Salvadore Ortiz of Banks County, Georgia died August 26, 2016. Born January 12, 1930 in Miami, Arizona to Hillario and Paula Ortiz, he is one of twelve children with one living sister, Josefina, in Los Angeles. Married for 63 years to the former Evelyn Crane of Gainesville, Georgia, he came to the area during his military service as an airborne Ranger from 1951-53. Post service he learned the auto body repair trade and built a reputation for skill in this field across the Atlanta area. He possessed many talents that were evident as early as childhood ranging from an ability to draw, a love of reading and a strong ethic toward learning and labor. He passed these along to his six children, Alex and Christopher of Atlanta, Alan of Hartwell, Linda Ortiz-Newton of Savannah and Laura Ortiz-Beltramini of San Francisco. He joins his son Michael greeting him at Glory's gate. He is remembered by his children as a loving father who always finished a hard day's work with a game of backyard sport. He retired to his farm to pursue his passion for raising Beefmaster cattle. He knew the name of every plant on his land and would commonly transplant and nurture native plants of interest to him. He leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He lived his life as an example for his family to follow in sense of duty and belief in one's ability to overcome and prosper through hard work and self reliance. The family will hold a private memorial in the near future. Online condolences may be left by visiting www.chsfuneralhome.com Coile-Hall-Spagnoli Funeral Home, 333 E.
