Stefanie Alicia Bowen

Stefanie Nixon Bowen of Villa Rica, GA passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018. She was born on January 8, 1973 to Jack Nixon and Diane Nixon and grew up in Tallapoosa, Georgia. Stefanie graduated from Haralson County High School in 1991. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Jacksonville State University. Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia, and Specialist's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. Stefanie made a difference and incredible impression in many children's and adults' lives in her 22 years of service in the field of education. She taught at P.B. Ritch Elementary, Nebo Elementary, and Baggett Elementary in Paulding County and J. Erikk Johnson School in Dallas, Texas. She served as a School Improvement Specialist at Hiram Elementary and Assistant Principal of Hiram Elementary and Nebo Elementary. She led Hal Hutchens Elementary as Principal from 2015 to the present. She is deeply loved and survived by her husband, Philip Spencer Bowen III, daughters Sarah Elizabeth and Molly Katherine Bowen, mother Diane Nixon, father and stepmother Jack and Nancy Nixon, sister and brother-in-law Kimberly and Dusty Merrell, father-in-law Philip Bowen II, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Katie and Nick Nichols, nieces Madelyn Merrell, Anna Nichols, and Addie Nichols. Her legacy is one of hope, determination, and the willfulness to do good in the world. Her contagious joy, creative nature, and sharp wit will be missed by many. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 17 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM with a memorial service at 7:00 PM at Bellamy Funeral Home in Hiram, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Stefanie be made to the Paulding Education Foundation.
