Mr. Harvey Lee Townsend, Sr. passed away on August 1, 2020. He was born in Franklin, Georgia to the late David and Ollie Mae Townsend on May 14, 1934. In addition to his parents, Mr. Townsend is preceded in death by his wife, LaUna Frances Erquitt Townsend and siblings, Paul Townsend, John Henry Townsend, Annie Ruth Townsend, Gladys Townsend Fields, Bernice Townsend, Ida Lou Townsend Koone, Ima Jean Townsend Moon, Gennie Townsend Brand, and David B. Townsend Jr. Mr. Townsend was the owner of Townsend’s Grocery Store and Harvey Townsend’s Used Car Dealership. He was a devout Christian. He served as a Deacon at Oakside Baptist Church, was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and served as a Worship Leader at Living Waters Baptist Church. Mr. Townsend served our country with honor in the United States Navy. Mr. Harvey Lee Townsend, Sr. is survived by his son, Harvey Lee Townsend, Jr. (Sara Ann); his daughters, Pennie Townsend Hill (Bobby) and Elizabeth Townsend Foster (Aric); his grandchildren, Robert Noah Hill, Daniel Louis Hill, McKenzie Foster, and Lawsyn Foster; his nieces and nephews, Lendon Fields, Rachel Richardson, Ray Fields, Jack Koone, Tim Koone, Randy Brand, Jan Wilson, Richard Moon, Shirlynn Skipper, Terry Smith, DeWayne Erquitt, Jeanine Daniel and David Daniel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon on Thursday, August 6, 2020. The Graveside service will directly follow the visiting hour and will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. Pastor Charles Chapman and Pastor Sam Mitchell will officiate the service.
