Obituary for Ashley June Nelson

Ashley June Nelson
Ashley June Nelson, 16, of Lewiston, passed away July 21, 2012, from a vehicle accident. She was born April 15, 1996, to Douglas Nelson and Nicolette Gotreau in Lewiston.
She enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling, camping, four-wheeling and hanging out with friends. She would be a junior at Lewiston High School this upcoming school year.
Ashley is survived by her dad and step mom, Doug and Bev Nelson of Lewiston; mother, Nicolette Faye Gotreau of Lewiston; brother, Cody Randall Nelson of Lewiston; stepbrother, Nathan Copeland of Lewiston; stepsister, Taylor Copeland of Seymour, Mo.; grandmother Ladora Gwazdacz of Lewiston; grandfather, Bud (Winston) Nelson of Elk River; step grandfather, Russ Wessman of Juliaetta; grandmother, Vickey Wessman of Juliaetta; uncles, Shane and Dina Nelson of Lewiston, and Daniel Rogoff; aunts, Kami and Pat Nibler of Elk River, Teckla Gotreau of Rathdrum; great-grandfather, Leo Gwazdacz of Lewiston; great-grandparents, Chuck and Dorothy Payne of Spokane; cousins, Tristan Storrs of Rathdrum, Steven Storrs and Ashley Storrs, both of Coeur d’Alene, Meagan, Marisa and Kyle Shoemaker, T.J. Nelson; and second cousin, Emma Storrs of Coeur d’Alene; and other numerous cousins and family members. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother and namesake, June Gwazdacz.
She is the kindest, sweetest person I have ever known. She is beautiful in so many ways; talented, funny and full of energy. If anyone ever actually “lived” their life it was her. She truly knew how to bring a smile to everyone’s face and tears to their eyes by making them laugh too hard. She was an Angel on earth and now she is an Angel in Heaven. God is very lucky to have her by his side. Your whole family loves and misses you!
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Malcom’s Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston. Lunch to follow at noon at the Lewiston Eagles. Everyone is invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to youth bowling-Ashley Nelson Memorial Scholarship fund at Syringa Bank. Those wishing to leave the family condolences may do so at http://www.malcomsfuneralhome.com/ under the web memorials tab.
A Child Loaned
“I’ll lend you
for a little time
A child of mine,”
He said.
“For you to love
the while she lives,
And mourn
for when she’s dead.
It may be six or
seven years or
twenty-two or three.
But will you,
till I call her back,
Take care of her for me?
She’ll bring her charms
to gladden you,
And should her stay
be brief,
You’ll have her
lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

“I cannot promise
she will stay,
Since all from
earth return,
But there are lessons
taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked this
wide world over
In my search for
teachers true.
And from the throngs
that crowd life’s lanes,
I have selected you.
Now, will you give her
all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I
come to call
And take her
back again?”

I fancied that I
heard them say,
“Dear Lord, Thy will
be done,
For all the joy Thy
child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter her with
tenderness,
We’ll love her while
we may.
And for the
happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the
angels call for her
Much sooner than
we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter
grief that comes
And try to understand.
