Betty L. (Moser) Meacham 89, a long time resident of Colton and Lewiston, passed away July 23, 2011 at St Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born to Warren and Jessie McAllister on June 5, 1922 in Pasco, WA. They moved to Clarkston in 1924 where she attended schools in Clarkston until 1938. She move to Colton and was a graduate of Colton High School in 1940. She married Wilfred Moser in 1942 and returned to Clarkston following his death in 1965.
Following her return to Clarkston, she attended Lewis- Clark College and earned a degree in education. She taught third grade at St Stanislaus from 1970 to 1980. Following her retirement from teaching, she continued to be active in the school reading stories on a weekly basis to students and often tutoring students in areas of need. She was still reading through the last school year at age 88. She volunteered at a local hospital for years and enjoyed making care packages for the less fortunate.
She met and married, Lewiston resident, Jim Meacham in 1973 and has remained in their home until her passing.
She is survived by her sons Mark of Bonney Lake, WA, Tom of Winchester, ID, Larry of Clarkston, Greg of Entiat, WA and step-daughters Sharon of Dubai, Diana of Seattle, WA. She was known as Grandma Betty to 11 grand children, 15 great grand children and 1great, great grand child.
Funeral services will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:30 am. Burial will be at St. Gall’s Cemetery in Colton, WA. A reception celebrating her life will follow in Colton. Malcom’s Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston is handling the arrangements.
Betty was loved by all.
