Blanche Marcukaitis Obituary

Blanche Marcukaitis, who was a long time resident of the southwest side of Chicago passed away at Oak Trace Rehabilitation Center in Downers Grove on the 4th of March, 2013. Blanche who was married to Norbert (Tony) Marcukaitis was the mother of 4 children, grandmother of 4, great grandmother of 7 and great great grandmother of 7. Blanche retired from Western Union as a Teletype operator at their Clearing Office which was located at 5606 west 63rd Street and also worked in the same capacity at the Board of Trade. Blanche was proud to talk of her wonderful vacations in Hawaii and the time during WWII when she worked repairing aircraft at an Army Airbase in California; she was an authentic “Rosy the Riveter.” Blanche enjoyed many happy years and made many friends while attending events at the City of Chicago’s Southwest Senior Center at 6117 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago. Services were held Thursday, March 7, at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL. Burial St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery.
