C. Otis Grant The son of Corine Grant and Calvin Dobson, Otis grew up in Chicago, IL as one of 10 children, six brothers and three sisters. Otis attended middle school at River Road Junior High, Aka Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, IL. He graduated from Maine North High School in Des Plaines. He Played football for Wright Jr. College and received a football scholarship to Eastern Illinois University. Otis got a try out for professional football in Canada for the Calgary Stampeders. Injuries ended his professional football career. Otis graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. He had a passion for literary expression. He was a member of several poetry groups. He continued to share his gift of poetry for over twenty years. Otis completed apprenticeship with International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 17 in March 1991. He retired as a Journeyman Insulator in July 2011. Otis had a son, Cheigh who was born in July 1991. Otis’ smile will be a treasured memory in our hearts. He will certainly be missed and never forgotten by his loved ones and friends. The Rites of Cremation have been accorded. Family and Friends will gather Sunday, November 2nd, at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S.
