Genevieve McGivern Obituary

Genevieve McGivern, nee Anderson, 95, died at The Mather, in Evanston, on March 30, 2012. She lived a productive life, and she will be missed by her many friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; two sons, Joe and Frank, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Kelly; and her sisters Rosemary Moore, Elaine Majure, Joan Daniel, and Kay Weyland. She is survived by five children, Mary Ann, Julie, David, Bill, and Peter; a daughter-in-law, Cindy, nee Cruz; a son-in law, Thomas Smith; seven grandchildren, Will, Sarah, Griffin, Rachel, Colleen, Ryan, and Kathleen; one great-grand-daughter, London; her sisters Beatrice Riordan and Eleanor Flowers; and many nieces and nephews. Genevieve worked for the City of Evanston Parks and Recreation Dept for many years and for Loyola University Chicago. She was a long-time resident of the Georgian in Evanston and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic parish in Chicago and then St. Mary Catholic parish in Evanston. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. She donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of IL. A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1012 Lake St, Evanston at 11AM on Saturday, April 14, followed by a celebration of her life at the Mather, 425 Davis, Evanston, 12:30-2:30PM.
