Gerald (Jerry) Avery of Chicago, IL and Scottsdale, AZ, age 82, passed away August 8, 2012. He was the cherished and loving husband for 18 years of Linda Rutledge Avery, nee Marchigiani, beloved father of Maria, Pamela Goolden (Mike), and Susan, proud grandfather of Christopher (CJ), Joseph, Sarah, Jerry and Eric and was preceded in death by son Gerald. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of Michigan State University before working at Arthur Andersen & Co and having a 35-year career at Leo Burnett Co, Inc. after which he consulted for 8 years. In retirement he enjoyed volunteering at The Newberry Library, extensive travel and the company of numerous friends. Private cremation rites have been held in accordance with Jerry’s wishes.
