Manuel (“Galo”) DeLaCruz. Born October 12, 1948, Died August 8, 2015. Beloved husband of Debra (Motto); beloved father of Marco Galo DeLaCruz of New York; son of the late Amelia Lopez (Ramos); brother to Marco DeLaCruz, (Ann Ryan) M.D., Cynthia DeLaCruz; uncle to Marco, Nicole, and Brendon DeLaCruz, Lianna Rivera (Saul), great-uncle to Caleb Rivera, and friend to many. Manuel served with the United States Army, 25th Infantry Division, Point Man, (Shot Gunner) 38th Infantry Platoon Scout Dogs, Viet Nam (Cu Chi) and Cambodia (1969 to 1970). He is a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Medal, Silver Star and Purple Heart. Manuel was with the Chicago Fire Department as a Fire Engineer from 1977 to 1995 and worked for the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department, and the CTA.
