Susan Stoessel Obituary

Susan Newlin Stoessel, born December 16, 1942 in Chicago, IL, died on September 24, 2012 in Evanston, IL, of an apparent heart attack, at age 69. Susan was the daughter of Rita Ellen Newlin of Dubuque, Iowa (nee Powers) and Harry Newlin of Chicago, IL, both of whom predecease her. She was raised in Chicago and Skokie, IL. Susie attended St. Peter's and St Lambert's Catholic Schools in Skokie, graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in Chicago, in 1961, attended Loyola University Nursing School and Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Northeastern IL University. Susie married Nick Stoessel in Chicago who predeceased her. Susie is survived by her daughter Mary Mika of San Diego, California, her sister Cynthia Newlin O'Connor of Sherman, Connecticut, and her brother, John Newlin of San Francisco, California. Susie was the loving Aunt of Heather Newlin Flotta, Meghan Newlin and Emily O'Connor. Susie loved her many years working at the Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview, IL, their patrons as well as her colleagues. Susie lived at Housing Options in Evanston for 20 years, where she found incredible friends and a great deal of support. Susie was an accomplished and published writer, had a true love and appreciation of Literature, Musicals and all Theater Productions, and was a world traveler. Susie was a generous and gentle person, who volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. Thanks to all of her friends over the years at Housing Options of Evanston.
