David Garcia Obituary

David Garcia, 55, longtime resident of the Southwest side of Chicago, born in Mexico City, Mexico on March 4, 1964 to mother Evangelina Lopez-Fernandez and father Thomas Garcia, whose legacy is carried on by his loving children Minerva Vidal Garcia, Abram David Garcia, Gabriel Moises Garcia, Ian Jeremiah Garcia, and beloved grandchildren Mia Prisaius Madrigal and Gael Moises Garcia-Morones. David lived life with a great tenacity, he loved playing sports and being active with family 10k+ runs, soccer, tennis, obstacle course races, hikes through nature, and all forms of family and fitness activities; he loved all genres of music, but his favorite was rock such as: Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Linkin Park, and many many more. David always carried an easy-going demeanor and fun-loving attitude on life; he was a friend to all living things: people, animals, and plants alike. David loved to share his time and anything he could to help the less fortunate, he loved to ride his motorcycle in the Toys-for-Tots parade, he enjoyed volunteering his time to feed the hungry, and was always looking for causes to donate to and support. David Garcia is known as one of the strongest people to all who know and love him, he overcame insurmountable odds and created an incredible legacy through his life and family. With his strength and wisdom in life, David Garcia was always an empowering force to everyone he met, he knew everyone’s strengths more than they knew their own abilities. David’s contributions in his life are reflective of the epitome of generational progress - he gave his all to ensure that his children and grandchildren can continue to build the family name. All of David’s children are highly educated (Resurrection University - Chicago; DePaul University - Chicago, Roosevelt University - Chicago; Northeastern Illinois University - Chicago, Columbia University - New York) and will ensure that his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and beyond will all continue the GARCIA legacy and David will always be recognized as the pivotal force that propelled his family into the dreams he always had for us. David’s life will forever be celebrated by all his family and friends; beloved life partner Monica Chavez; stepfather Jesse Lopez; siblings Thomas, Caridad, Rogelio, Lola, Betti, and Victor-Hugo; as well as his precious dog Sparky. Special tributes: Comments from David’s siblings “My little brother, how painful it is to see you go, I have your image bright in my mind and heart, just last weekend I saw you at mom's & Pa, as you watched your baby son Ian hug us and say goodbye... You looked so proud of him and you seemed so touched by how he embraced Pa Jessito and Mom, and me. I always loved getting one of those firm and strong beautiful hugs you gave with so much love, always! You have two grown brilliant sons and daughter, Abram and Gabriel, and Minerva, and of course your youngest Ian, all with great talents and shared your intensity for life. Only great things can come from that combination. Basically, I saw you getting yourself out of hell, I saw you do it every day relentlessly, and at every moment of your life, you had an intensity in your focus that I admired greatly and inspired me every time! An intensity for life and your unwavering spirit was always present, a powerful gentleness so few times I've ever seen, a kindness that was also firm and so real that seemed had ten-dimensions, never denying, always willing to help no matter how hard, because your whole demeanor was kindness and love but never a fool or ever lukewarm, you made it clear that you gave always your very best and I could always expect that it was sobering reality of life... You valued every moment and always made the best of each, always bringing in everyone to join in the great quests and experience life. My beautiful little brother, I am so proud in every way... I miss you terribly and I know I have to share you with God and his angels... and an entire universe.... I love you little brother!” -Lola (Sister) David Garcia was a beloved father of four beautiful children, one of seven siblings, he lived life everyday with the utmost care and joy, his tremendous and infectious smile made anyone's day, his sincere and witty talk was always a welcoming radiance for those around him, his hard work ethic and yearn for outdoor activities with a playful spirit will be sorely missed. He aspired to always make any situation end in a positive manner, he wore his heart on his sleeve with glee for all to see. He cleverly found a way to bring you back to our innocent childhood selves...he had a gift that was shared selflessly. -Victor “Hugo” (Brother)
