Joan Rae Dietz, 86, July 24, 2020, resident of the Southwest Side of Chicago-Garfield Ridge neighborhoodfor over 50 years, after being raised on the North Side; beloved wife of the late Jack Dietz; cherished mother of Deborah Boness and the late John M. Dietz; adoring grandmother of Jeff, Dawn, Natalie, Malarie, Daniel, Anthony, Jonilynn and Paige, who continued to spoil her great-grandchildren, Hailie, Elizabeth, Jonathon, Louie, Carrisa, Marissa, Vito, Vander and Luna; devoted sister to two brothers and four sisters, and the sweet daughter of the late Gilbert and Juanita Gilbertsen. Joan was compassionately cared for and will be missed by her former daughter-in-law, Tammy Jesse. In Joan’s early days, she enjoyed dancing and playing pinnacle with her friends. She would talk for hours on the phone to them keeping in close contact through the years. Joan loved to travel and shop and was fortunate to have visited Europe and many other destinations throughout the world. Joan took great joy in cooking and baking for her family Joan’s greatest JOY was being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother and spending time with them. She was a fun-loving aunt and friend to many. Her Natchez home always was a welcome sight to family and friends. Services at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 10 a.m. Burial Woodlawn Memorial Park, Forest Park, IL, where Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack and son, John.
