Valerian “Val” Pikus, 94, November 7, 2016, lifetime resident of the Southwest side of Chicago-Clearing neighborhood, beloved husband of the late Bernice Pikus; devoted father of Ronald (Christine) Pikus and Roy (Jeanne) Pikus; loving grandfather of Jeffrey and Kari Pikus, Jamie (Amer) Ghafari and Ryan (Lucia) Pikus; fond great grandfather of Evelyn Markham, Leigha Ghafari, and Joseph Pikus. Preceded in death by parents and five siblings. Veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II. Life member of V.F.W. Post # 6863, and Bishop Ketteler Council No. 1628, Knights of Columbus. Longtime usher at St. Symphorosa Church and longtime member of St. Symphorosa Super Club. Services at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, where friends may call on Friday, November 11, from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, November 12, 8:45 a.m. at chapel, to St. Symphorosa Church. Mass 9:30 a.m. Military honors by U.S. Air Force and Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Symphorosa Parish, 6135 S. Austin Ave., Chicago, IL 60638.
