Benjamin Travis "Benjie" Kee, 42 of Richburg, South Carolina and a former resident of Johnston City, passed away in his sleep Monday, November 11, 2019. Benjie was born May 25, 1977 in West Frankfort, and was the son of Ronald Eugene and Lana Kay (Blackburn) Kee. Benjie was a graduate of Johnston City High School and attended Rend Lake College and Free Will Baptist College. He was employed for over twenty years with Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL and he also worked with Rolled Alloy in Richburg and Dollar General in Richburg. Benjie loved his family and he loved his friends as if they were his family. Benji also lived out the scripture “ love your neighbors as yourself”. Anyone that came across his path with a need he would go out of his way to help them, they became his “neighbor”. He also loved his dog Zeus. He was an avid Harley Davidson fan. He loved the ride. Benjie is survived by his parents, Ronnie and Lana Kee of Johnston City; brother, Ryan Kee (Amber) of Lakeland FL; one nephew, Kamden Benjamin Kee of Lakeland FL; one niece, Kollins Jo Kee of Lakeland FL; one stepdaughter, Kylie Marlowe of Mt. Vernon, IL; paternal grandfather, Jesse Virgil Kee of Johnston City, IL; maternal grandmother, Rosemary Blackburn of West Frankfort, IL; one uncle, Tim Blackburn (Vicky) of West Frankfort IL; one aunt, Myrna Denton (Jim) of Marion, IL; cousins, Ashely Young, Scott Denton, Crystal Tyson, Matthew Blackburn and Nikki Alexander. Benjie was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Blackburn and his maternal grandmother, Eva Lou Kee. Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Mr. Tim Blackburn officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pyle Funeral Home, 1008 W. Broadway Blvd, Johnston City, IL 62951. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Friends of the animals, P.O. Box 58, Chester, SC 29706. Memorial envelopes will be available at Pyle Funeral Home.
