Michael R. Soden, age 69, of St. Jacob, IL, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.

He was born October 20, 1950 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Williamd G. and Thelma E. (Parnell) Soden. He married Peggy Shipman in 1973. She survives.

Also surviving are two children: Misty Malone and Michael A. (Allison) Soden, both of St. Jacob; one grandchild, Samantha Malone; and two siblings: Denise Turner of O’Fallon, IL and Maurice (Janet) Plickebaum of Maryville, IL.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Nancy Lowery and Jerry Plickebaum.

Mr. Soden was a veteran of the US Navy and worked as a supervisor in the oil refinery industry. He was active as a leader in both the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts; and enjoyed shooting guns in his spare time.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, with a reception following.
