Billie Eugene Carter, 81, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Billie was born on December 11, 1935, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Fred Carter and Lila (Law) Carter. He had work many years at Com-Pac in Carbondale. Mr. Carter was a good hard working man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro. Billie married Phyllis Zimmerman on June 7, 1954, in Murphysboro and she survives. Other survivors include two children Debra Presutti and Fred Carter, both of Murphysboro; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son Leonard Carter, one grandson Justin Eugene Clover, one brother Joe Carter, one brother Teddy in infancy, two sisters Shirley Daniels and Bonnie Toler, and his parents. Gravesite services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Murdale Gardens of Memory with Rev. Jim Frye officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
