David E. Hill, age 65, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:44 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Mt. Joy Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. David was born on June 26, 1943, in Chester, Illinois, to Elmer Hill and Norma (Smith) Hill. Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired operating engineer. David is survived by one daughter and son in law Leandra and Russell Bryant of Murphysboro; two grandchildren Luke Bryant and Holly Bryant, both of Murphysboro; a close friend Ron Wheeler of Murphysboro; other survivors include Stephanie Cerutti and Dewayne Crowell, both of Murphysboro and Brian Crowell of Gorham and their families; one brother Marty Hill of Murphysboro and one sister Linda Graff and her husband Dale Graff of Murphysboro. He was preceded in death by one brother Marvin Hill and his parents.
