Jack "Railroad Jack" Ebersohl

"Railroad Jack" Ebersohl, age 66, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:14 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020, at his sister's residence in Murphysboro. Jack was born on January 5, 1954, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Delbert and Imogene (Casey) Ebersohl. In his younger years, he had worked as a landscaper. Then he worked for twenty years for the I.C.G. Railroad-Union Pacific, and more recently he had worked for the Murphysboro Police Department. Mr. Ebersohl was a member of the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127 in Murphysboro. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Jack is survived by one sister Sharon Ebersohl and one niece Katherine Ebersohl, both of Jackson, Missouri; uncle and aunt Virgil and Mickey Casey of Dupo, an aunt Iline Harrouff of Murphysboro; numerous cousins including Dennis Ebersohl and his wife Nance Ebersohl of Murphysboro, who even though he was a cousin, he was as close as a brother to Jack; and many friends. He was preceded in death by one brother Curtis Ebersohl and his parents. His body will be cremated and then private gravesite services will be held at a later date.
