Patricia Diane "Pat" Lawhorn, 53, of Murphysboro, slipped quietly from this world on Monday, April 17, 2017, with her children at her bedside at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Pat was born at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 1963, at home in Elkville. She was the daughter of Mary Lawhorn of Elkville and James Lawhorn of DuQuoin. She was raised by her mother and step father Louis Johnson. Pat attended grade school in Elkville and High School in Murphysboro. She held several jobs during her lifetime--in health care and factories. She married Lloyd "Tiny" Shingleton and he preceded her in death in October of 2007. Pat is survived by her son Michael Lawhorn (Jolene Caraker) and Mike's two children Cameron and Karlee; her daughter Casey Crow (Jared Varnum) and Casey's son Isaiah Crow; four sisters Rosemary Cornell and Barbara Downey, both of Murphysboro, Mary Miller of Mayfield, KY and Ginger Mason of Carbondale; three brothers Robert Robinson and Louis "Cliff' (Angie) Johnson of Murphysboro, and Paul (Betsy) Johnson of DuQuoin; four step granddaughters Tina, Ashley, Leslie, and LeeAnn; eleven nieces and nephews, and eight great nieces and great nephews and multiple friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and step father Louis and Mary (Lawhorn) Johnson, her father James Lawhorn, infant sister Jessica Johnson, Casey's father Raymond Crow, husband "Tiny" Shingleton, and step daughter Amy Shingleton. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the I.C.U. of Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for their excellent care and compassion and the Mid-America Transplant Team of St. Louis for letting Pat give someone else a chance for life. Michael and Casey take comfort in knowing that pat's donation of her organs means she is still with them. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Gilbert officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
