"Rocky" Preston Miller Obituary

Rocky Miller, 64 of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Preston "Rocky" Miller was born on February 27, 1953, in Murphysboro, to Paul Miller and Mary (Lively) Smith. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, and he was a member of the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127 in Murphysboro. He had retired in 2005 as a leisure time activity director for Menard Penitentiary at Chester. Rocky loved riding his motorcycle and hunting, and he liked to show his antique truck in the area cruise nights. He especially was fond of his dog Casey. He is survived by three children MacKenzie Miller of Murphysboro, Justin Graff and his wife Kari Graff of Murphysboro, and Heather Armstrong of Iowa; several grandchildren including Lakyn Stokes, Jackson Graff and Dawson Graff; one brother and sister in law Darrel and Linda Derosett of Murphysboro; two sisters Joyce Howell and Paula Schemonia, both of Murphysboro, and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David Derosett and Mike Griffin. Gravesite Military Services will be conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post # 127 and will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Tower Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until 11:45 a.m. at Pettett Funeral Home. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
