Scott W. Hale, age 64, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Scott was born on June 20, 1956, in Carbondale, Illinois, to John W. Hale, Jr. and Blanche (Crombar) Hale. Mr. Hale had worked several years in the Maintenance Department at the Jackson County Sheriff' Office and retired in 2015. He was an avid softball player, coach, and umpire. He was inducted into the A.F.A. Softball Hall of Fame in 2018. He had served for forty years as a Football Referee. Also, he was a rabbit and deer hunter, and enjoyed camping and four wheeling. Scott married Rose Williams on October 11, 1975, in Murphysboro, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters Sandi Hale of Marion and Sara Bolter of Murphysboro; six grandchildren Skyler, Tyler, Bridget, Jaxon, Daniela, and Ryan; six great grandchildren Ashlynn, Olivia, Lincoln, Elizabeth, Bentley, and Hunter; and two brothers Steve Hale of Murphysboro and Shawn Hale of San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by his one brother Stan Hale, his parents, and his grandmother Nellie Crombar. His funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating.
