Wayne Miller

Wayne Edward Miller, 83, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Wayne was born on October 26, 1936, in Carbondale, Illinois, to John Edward Miller and Lucille (Joplin) Miller. Mr. Miller had worked as a dispatcher and driver for Teamster's Union Local 318. Wayne was baptist by faith. As a real estate and insurance professional, he and his wife were co-owners of Miller Real Estate and Insurnace, in Southern Illinois. Wayne was an example to those who knew him. He never saw things as they were, he looked for the good in things and what they could become. Always leading by example of hard work and integrity rather than words. Wayne set the standard for his family to follow. Whether dreaming of goals and plans with his constant companion and the love of his life Wanda Lee, or helping his kids with a project, Wayne was always there as the voice of reason and to lend a helping hand. Wayne married Wanda (Woodford) Lancaster on June 7, 1974, in Jackson, Missouri. He is survived by four children Mark (Jane) Miller of Marion, Janet (Eddie) Waugh, Albuquerque, NM, Roger (Crystal) Miller of Herrin, IL, and Terri Robles of Destin, FL; two step children Pamela Palmer of Coulterville and Bob (Angie) Knope of Carbondale; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and one brother Ron Miller of Fort Myers, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dale Miller, and one sister Shirley Miller. His body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to St. Frances Care. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He was a tower of quiet strength for all who knew him. He will always be loved and never be forgotten.
