Adelaide J. "Addie" Teninga Obituary

Adelaide J. Teninga, age 95, passed away September 22, 2006. Adelaide was a life-long resident of Roseland and South Holland, was employed by Pullman Standard for over 30 years, and after retirement, was employed by the World Home Bible League for many more. Adelaide was a Sunday School Superintendent at the Bellevue Baptist Church in Roseland (Chicago) for many years and was very active in the Youngsters For Christ program. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and later the Village Evangelical Free Church in South Holland. Published author, philanthropist, and dedicated Christian worker, Adelaide has touched the lives of many during her life. She enjoyed world travel, writing poetry, storytelling, was an original member of the "Twerps," and even christened a ship during WWII. Left behind are her sister, Helen (Joseph) Eenigenburg (nee Teninga), niece and nephews Elton "Joe" (Shirley) Eenigenburg, Jill (Kurt Kosty) Eenigenburg, and Robert (Diane) Eenigenburg and 8 great nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, September 24th (3-9 P.M.) at Colonial Chapel. Additional visitation Monday from 10:30 until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 A.M. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave (155th/Wheeler Drive & Harlem) Orland Park. Interment Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont, IL. Memorials to The Bible League, Crete, IL or Village Evangelical Free Church, South Holland, IL.
