Claudette I. Baxter Orland Park, Illinois Obituary

Claudette I. Baxter

Claudette I. Baxter “Mrs. B” of Worth, Illinois, died at Palos Community Hospital on May 24, 2020. She was born on October 14, 1935 to the late Stewart and Loretta (Felizak) Schuerr. “It pains me to admit it, but apparently, I have passed away. Everyone told me it would happen one day, but that’s simply not something I wanted to hear, much less experience.” “No buildings named after me; no monuments erected in my honor. But I did love my family and friends with all my heart.” She loved every genre of music and enjoyed dancing and singing. She loved dogs and horses and flowers and chocolate – Snickers and Milkway’s to be specific. She definitely had a sweet tooth and you could usually persuade her with the promise of candy. Unbeknownst to many, she was also a gifted artist. She had the ability to draw just about anything she saw and she could turn a person’s name into a piece of personalized art. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit, especially when she was with her brother Roy - her straight man and comedic partner. Growing up during the Great Depression taught her to not be wasteful, appreciate everything and value even the smallest things; and that she did – she kept everything! “Because it’s a sin to throw things away!” “You never know when you or someone else might need it!” Too bad she didn’t have the forethought to save the toilet paper and paper towel that was on the box full of cardboard rolls she saved. But in her defense, who knew! I can hear her now, “See, I told you so!” It's been quite the journey. I will always remember your strength, tenacity and the graceful way you lived your last chapter. Claudette is preceded in death by her parents Stewart and Loretta Schuerr and her brother and sister-in-law Stewart and Nancy Schuerr. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Roy and Jeanette Schuerr, daughters: Laura (Jesse) Villanueva, Margaret (Dean) Roberts and Claudia (John) Lord, grandchildren: Christopher (Jessica) Altman, Samantha Schaft, Patrick (Emily) Lord and Jessica (Will Cotton) Lord; great grandson: Jaxson Partida; many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Due to the Covid-19 virus, services and burial will be private with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held at a future date. Please note her change of address to her new place of residence, Chapel Hill Gardens South,11333 S. Central Avenue – Oak Lawn, Illinois.
