Dr. Boguslaw Adam Herse

Doctor Boguslaw Adam Herse passed away peacefully in his home in Tinley Park, Illinois with his beloved wife Danusia (Krzysiak) at his side on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Dr. Herse was born into a well-known family on July 20, 1924 in Warsaw, Poland. He was respected as a highly educated, old-schooled gentleman. Dr. Herse was fluent in several languages and an avid reader all his life. Dr. Herse was a veteran of the Polish Army serving during WWII after he and his family were sent to endure several months in Siberia. After the War, Dr. Herse attended medical school in Bologna, Italy where he met his first wife Lia (Poggiolini). In 1950, the couple immigrated to the Chicago area. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Herse opened the first practice in Oak Forest, “The Doctors” Clinic, where he practiced until retirement in 1997. Dr. Herse was well liked by his patients for his caring, efficient mannerism. He also was a member of the staff at South Suburban Hospital where he served as President for several years. Dr. Herse was an influential, invaluable member of the community giving regularly to charities throughout the world. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, and biking in his younger years. In addition to his present wife Danusia, Dr. Herse is survived by his sister Anna Piet in England, his children: Danielle Góngora (David), Conrad Herse (Terry Folak), and Natalie Herse (Peter Sussman), his stepchildren: John Krzysiak, Joe Krzysiak, Helen Rafferty, eight grandchildren, two nephews and a niece, and family in Poland and Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lia in 1999, and his brother Richard during WWII. The Herse family would like to express their gratitude to VITAS Hospice and Addus and Synergy Caregiver Services for their support during the last few weeks. Visitation Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Monday, January 13, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem), Orland Park, IL to St. George Church, 6707 W. 175th St., Tinley Park, IL.
