Jean Somerstorfer Orland Park, Illinois Obituary

Jean Somerstorfer

Dorothy “Jean” Somerstorfer, nee Lybrink, age 90, beloved wife of the late Harry Somerstorfer (1985). Loving mother of Steve, Sandy Stanczyk and Gaye (Paul) Ruhlach. Cherished grandmother of Jillian (Blake) Bieritz, Jackie Stanczyk, Megan (Nick) Greco and Mitchell (Kelly) Ruhlach. Dearest “Gigi” to Grey Bieritz. Her grandchildren think of her as the smile police - someone who ensured those around her were as happy as possible and that they had the facial expression to match. It was nearly impossible to frown in her presence - because if she wasn’t igniting a smile with her personality, she was insisting on one with her words. Nearly every family member in her lineage has been granted the nickname “smiley” because of what she instilled upon them. She had a playful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Being an only child, her biggest hope was for everyone in her family to find happiness and companionship in each other and she did everything she could to encourage that. Our family trips to Wisconsin Dells every summer are a prime example of her selflessness and devotion to her family. It was in these trips that many of our most cherished memories come. She was compassionate, wise, strong and independent. She set an example of selflessness and always put her friends and family first. She was passionate about helping others and some of her favorite charities were St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior Project. Her enormous heart was a gift to us all and will be forever missed. As per Jean's wishes there will be no services. She wants those left behind to remember her as being full of life and love.
