Robert M. Honig Obituary

Robert M. Honig, age 89, of Geneseo, IL went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2014. A celebration of his life will be at Colonial Chapel in Orland Park, IL. Robert was born June 3, 1925 in Flint Mi. to Maurice and Bessie Honig. He graduated from Chicago Christian High School and from Governors State University where he was awarded the Lincoln Academy of Illinois medal for Scholarship and attended Western Theological Seminary. Robert served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and the Korean War. He retired from the First National Bank of Evergreen Park as Senior Vice President. Following retirement he was ordained as a minister in the Reformed Church in America. He served as Chaplain in Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, IL and Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart Fl. Robert is survived by his wife Patricia of 67 years, his daughter Sandra (Dan) Griffin in Geneseo, a grandson Daniel (Nimitta) Griffin in Bend, OR., daughter-in- law Donna Honig and step-granddaughter Natalie of Stuart FL, four nephews and two nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his son William A., his brother F. William and sister Catherine. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Western Theological Seminary Holland Mi. or Unitypoint Hospice. Visitation is Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4pm until 8pm. The funeral service is Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL .
