Delia Iris Young

Delia Iris (Hodges) Young, age 92, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House. She was born on October 18, 1926 in High Point, North Carolina to William Harrison and Virginia Victoria (Flynn) Hodges. Delia was an excellent cook and she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved them dearly. Delia worked at Indiana University and Fountain Bleu Nursing Home, where she retired. Delia is survived by her children, Judy Porter, Larry Cox (Linda), Joanie Lavender Brown (Wendell), and Rick and Danny Bundy, 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Delia was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Young, sons, James and Jesse Bundy, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and sons-in-law, Danny Porter and Charles Lavender, Jr. Visitation for Delia will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2019 and from 9:00 Am until 10:00 AM on Saturday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Indiana. Pastor Nick Defore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to IU Health Bloomington Hospice House in Delia's name.
